Reverend Father Dimitrios Moraitis has been serving the Orthodox Church for over 20 years.
Fr. Dimitrios was born in Germany and raised in Queens, New York. After working as a General Contractor and Building Engineer, he went back to school to become a social worker. He quickly realized that God was calling him to the Priesthood and he entered the Seminary of Hellenic College/Holy Cross in Brookline, MA in 1992.
Fr. Dimitrios graduated in 1996 from Hellenic College as Valedictorian and received his Masters of Divinity at Holy Cross in 1998. After serving as a Deacon during his senior year in Boston, he was ordained to the Priesthood and was assigned to the St. Demetrios community in Chicago, Illinois where he served as the second priest from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 he was assigned as the Senior Pastor of Sts. Constantine and Helen Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. During his ministry in North Carolina, he also served as an Army Chaplain at Fort Bragg and began his Doctoral studies.
After serving four years at Sts. Constantine and Helen, he arrived at St. Paraskevi in Greenlawn, New York. He served as the Senior Priest of St. Paraskevi from 2004 until 2014 when he was assigned to our parish of St.Spyridon.
In May of 2006, after completing his dissertation, Fr. Dimitrios received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has been a guest lecturer at several universities and has published his dissertation.He has also led 7 Project Mexico mission trips to help the needy build homes.
Fr. Dimitrios is married to Presvytera Flora. Their daughter Arsenia was born in 1999 in Chicago and their youngest daughter, Chrisoula, was born in 2001 in North Carolina.
