Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA) is a ministry of Greek Orthodox parishes nationwide. The mission of GOYA Ministry is to strengthen the relationship of young Orthodox Christians with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The program works to educate and edify young members of the Church, encouraging them to become active sacramental participants in the life of the Body of Christ. This ministry offers them the opportunity to experience the Faith, ultimately leading them to Salvation.
We meet every Tuesday! Every other week is a formal meeting or event, with the off weeks an open gym free time. Please join our St. Spyridon Facebook group for event announcements, updates, and photos.
Our meetings bring together teenagers (7th-12th grade) in learning and fellowship. We usually spend some time learning about an aspect of Orthodox Christianity, followed by fun activities. Because GOYA is a ministry of the Church, we split our time learning about the faith through discussions or service projects, and the rest of the time host events such as dances and apple picking. We can't wait for you to join us.
How do I get involved?

Junior Orthodox Youth - JOY
The Junior Orthodox Youth (JOY) group of our Cathedral is a wonderful program for children in grades 3-6 (ages 7-12). The JOY group meets together once a month, on the third Saturday of each month from 11 to 1 pm. Currently, we have 25 children registered in our program, but are looking to grow! The goal of this ministry is to help our youth grow closer to Jesus Christ.
The JOY meeting is an opportunity to participate in fellowship with peers and adult advisors who offer guidance in experiencing and exploring the Orthodox Faith. Meetings are conducted in an informal, relaxed atmosphere that brings the youth of Saint Spyridon together in a fun and educational way. We begin each meeting with a prayer and lesson provided by the priest. Usually snacks and refreshments are offered and a craft or activity that coordinates with the theme of the night. Besides regular meetings, we offer seasonal activities, field trips and opportunities to give back to the community through charity projects. We hope you can join us at our next meeting. If you would like more information, please contact Maggie Moraitis (508) 450-4139.
Little Angels is a ministry group for our youngest parishioners ages 1-4. This group is a social outlet for parents and kids alike, as well as important religious education. We read Bible Stories together, teach the little ones how to act in Church, and learn how to be the best Christians we can. We typically meet twice a month. Please contact the Church Office for more information.
The Sunday School provides religious education and an Eastern Orthodox Christian foundation for the youth of the community. Classes are available for children ages 4 through high school. The focus of instruction throughout the grades deepens the children's understanding of their faith as well as reinforcing the moral foundations established at home.Classes are held every Sunday immediately following Holy Communion.
